Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts
Scouting programs are available for students for all students in Saint Agnes Parish.
Boy Scout Troop 111 was originally chartered in 1939, shortly after Saint Agnes Parish was incorporated. Troop 111 averages 60 boys each year, making it one of the largest in the Washington DC area. Troop 111 is very active with monthly outdoor activities and annual camping trips. The Scouts camp each summer at Camp Goshen, a beautiful 4,000-acre camp in the mountains of southwest Virginia. We’re not sure if the boys or the dads have more fun!
Girl Scouts provide cookie sales, support for troops overseas, and food for those in need. The Girl Scouts also provide babysitting services during after-hours school events, such as back-to-school night and parent-teacher conferences. Local field trips include visits to the Supreme Court and Kennedy Center as well as traditional camping trips.
Saint Agnes is the patron saint of Girl Scouts. She embodied many of the qualities that Girl Scouts try to cultivate: courage, honesty, respect for oneself and for others, service to God and to neighbor.
