“In preparing to receive First Holy Communion, my daughter’s teacher suggested she make a throne with her hands to receive the Eucharist.  What a beautiful and meaningful way to teach a young child the sanctity of this Sacrament.”

Sacraments

Daily religious instruction and school-wide prayer, weekly all-school Mass, the monthly Virtues Program, and sacramental preparation are the cornerstones of building the faith community.

Preparation for and receiving the Sacraments are unique aspects of faith formation at Saint Agnes Catholic School:

  • Second grade students spend the school year preparing for the Sacraments of Penance and First Holy Communion. These young students lead school-wide prayer each morning and afternoon. A highlight of this preparation is Jesus Day, when the students, teachers, and parents celebrate an entire day of hands-on activities with crafts, baking, planting flowers, and visiting the Perpetual Adoration Chapel.
  • Confirmation preparation begins in 7th grade with 8th graders receiving the sacrament of Confirmation in the Fall. The Gift of the Holy Spirit, given in a new outpouring in Confirmation, prepares these students to the school in the Nativity Christmas Prayer and Living Stations of the Cross.  Students attend a day-long team-building program sponsored by InnerQuest prior to Confirmation.
  • School-wide penance services are offered quarterly during the school year.
