A dedicated computer lab and classroom computers emphasize 21st century skills which require creativity and understanding of current technological advances.
Computer Lab. A state-of-the-art Computer Lab, used by grades K-8, is furnished with 30 Dell computers with flat screen monitors and networked printers. Filters are in place to ensure student safety and privacy.
In computer class, students in grades K-8 learn basic computer skills (keyboarding, Word documents, spreadsheets and graphic presentations), computer theory, and the basic ethical, moral, legal and safety issues surrounding computer technology. They learn the use of personal video cameras and how to edit on the computer to make movies.
Classroom technology. Each classroom has dedicated teacher and student computers, printers and LCD projectors. The student computers are used within the classroom for centers in the elementary grades and research in the upper grades. They also are secured for student safety. InterWrite Boards are available as well as student response devices that make any classroom computer interactive with teacher created assessments.
Teachers incorporate technology in their classrooms by utilizing educational websites and projecting them with LCD projectors, by integrating the curriculum in various subjects, and in collaboration with the computer teacher.
